I. 2019 Recap
Sam Houston State won the Southland's regular-season crown in 2019, later moving through the conference tournament to secure the championship and, with it, the league's automatic berth into the NCAA tournament. The Bearkats were the only conference team to reach the NCAA tournament, though Stephen F. Austin and McNeese were selected for the NISC postseason tournament.
A total of twelve conference schools sponsor softball, including Abilene Christian; Central Arkansas; Houston Baptist; Incarnate Word; Lamar; McNeese; Nicholls; Northwestern State; Sam Houston State; Southeastern Louisiana; Stephen F. Austin; and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. One conference member school does not field a softball program.
