TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER
Day three and bracket play is underway in Shawnee, KS for Team 1; a large youth tournament that welcomes some of the nation’s best programs in the 12U-18U divisions. The event kicked off on Thursday with pool play and the field has impressed as promised.
- “Double-take dinger”
The nod for “hardest hit ball” of the tournament remains with EC Bullets – Mayfield’s, Mckaela Walker (2023, Uncommitted). In the Bullets’ Thursday afternoon pool play game Walker destroyed a “no-doubter” to dead center. A beautiful swing that resulted in an impressive homerun. The featured image on this post is from the moment Walker crossed the plate and celebrated with her teammates.
– - ACES Standout Among the Field
The Aces are one of the nation’s top programs with an eye-popping list of talented athletes committed to the nation’s top programs. While the Aces’ rosters are star studded, two continue to stand out:
Kinsey Fiedler – Aces, Washington
To put it simply, Fiedler is on another level and to piggyback off the words from another coach at this event, “it just looks like batting practice for her”. Everything Fiedler does on the field is at an elite level including a few of the massive home runs she’s blasted this week alone.
Tatum Clopton – Aces, Oklahoma State
It is a treat every time I get to see Clopton throw and Oklahoma State fans should be excited to get her on campus. Truly, she has it all and is “next level” dominate. I cannot wait to see what she does on the collegiate stage over the next four years.
– - College Coaches Everywhere
The showing of college coaches at this event has been impressive! I’ve seen all Power 5 conferences represented including programs such as Texas, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Northwestern, Minnesota, Florida, Iowa State, Georgia Tech, Mizzou, Nebraska and many more. The “mid-majors” have come up in strong numbers; programs such as DePaul, Missouri State, Becknell, Western Illinois, Fordham, Saint Louis University, Drake, etc.
– - A Sneaky Good Game.
Utah Nation took on CO Batbusters Gold-Smith in the first round of bracket play for the 18U division. It was a beautiful evening for a game as the sunset and the temperatures dropped. Nation controlled most of the game until the late innings when the Batbusters stormed back to mount an impressive comeback. Despite there being a handful of miscues from both teams, this game had it all: both pitchers performed well, fun defensive plays were made, the bats came alive in the late innings, and the energy level was high from both squads.
The Batbusters ultimately walked it off to advanced in the winners bracket, 9-8.
– - A Round of Applause
It has been hot here in Kansas with “feels like” temperatures reaching 105 degrees. JWOS wants to extend a big “thank you” and appreciation to everyone who is making this event possible. To the staff, umpires, and grounds crew members working long hours in the heat to the athletes on the field – thank you!
