TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER
The Texas Longhorns have added a new arm to their stable, with southpaw Estelle Czech committing to the Horns on Friday.
“I’m hooked,” Czech wrote on Instagram, captioning photos of herself in a Texas uniform. A former North Carolina State pitcher, she entered the transfer portal on May 16th.
A native of Downers Grove, Illinois, Czech has three years of eligibility remaining after spending her true freshman season at NC State in 2021.
During her true freshman campaign, Czech recorded an overall record of 4-6, with a 3.14 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 73.2 innings of work. She pitched every inning of the ACC Tournament for the Wolfpack, included a complete-game in an opening-round win over rival North Carolina, and also enjoyed a quality outing against LSU when she threw 6.2 innings of one-run ball.
Czech figures to play a prominent role in Texas’ future plans, likely as part of a 1-2 punch in the circle along with Shealyn O’Leary. Prior to Czech’s commitment on Friday, the Longhorns’ existing pitching corps had been depleted to include only O’Leary and Courtney Day.
