Texas A&M has signed head coach Jo Evans to a five-year contract that is expected to keep her in College Station through 2022.
The Aggies’ leader for twenty-one years, Evans led the Aggies to the Women’s College World Series in 2017 for the first time since 2008 and the third time during her tenure that has spanned more than two decades.
Evans’ squad has reached the NCAA tournament eighteen times during her career with the Aggies, reaching the Super Regionals six times. In 2008, the Aggies won the Big 12 championship and finished as the Women’s College World Series runner-up and ranked #2 in the nation.
In 2015, Evans was inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame. She ranks seventh among active head coaches with 1,149 career wins.
Prior to her career at Texas A&M, Evans also served as head coach at Utah and Colorado State, as well as an assistant at Florida State.
In 2017, Evans’ Aggies club posted a 47-13 record, including a 16-7 record in SEC play, and bested conference foe Tennessee in the Super Regionals to advance to the WCWS.
