Paige Smith has resigned as the head coach of Seton Hall. Smith’s departure was announced on Monday morning; she spent the last nine years as the Pirates’ program leader.
Under Smith’s guidance, the Pirates collected a 165-247-1 overall record and a 61-99 mark in Big East conference play. She led the program to the conference tournament twice in her first three seasons at the helm. The 2019 season was the program’s best under her leadership, when the Pirates went 24-24 overall and 10-9 in conference.
“We’d like to thank Paige for all her hard work and dedication to the softball program and our student-athletes over the past nine seasons,” Seton Hall athletic director Bryan Felt said in a statement. “She led our softball program with the utmost class and grace. We are grateful for her mentorship of our student-athletes and respect her decision to step away to spend more time with her family, and we wish her all the best in her future pursuits.”
Prior to her tenure at Seton Hall, Smith spent five seasons as head coach at Division II Adelphi and spent time on staff at St. John’s, Louisburg College, and North Idaho.
