Former Florida State star Carsyn Gordon has joined the coaching staff at Division II Palm Beach Atlantic, the school announced on Thursday.
Gordon will be a graduate assistant coach on the Sailfish staff.
Gordon completed her playing career at FSU with the 2019 season, and was part of the Seminoles squad that won the Women’s College World Series National Championship in 2018. She helped lead the program to four consecutive conference championships and a pair of WCWS appearances, including the national title-winning appearance in 2018.
A three-time all-ACC honoree, Gordon earned first-team honors in 2019 and second-team honors from the conference in 2016 and ’18, and was a first-team all-region honoree in 2018 and ’19. Gordon finished her playing career at Florida State with a .323 career batting average, thirty-eight home runs, and 174 RBIs.
The longtime Seminole first baseman, Gordon owns the NCAA record for grand slams in a single season with three, and ranks in the top-three all-time in FSU program history for home runs and RBIs. She was also part of the Puerto Rican national team for several years, on a squad that won the gold medal at the Central American games in 2018 and came up just short of an Olympic berth at the Americas qualifier this summer.
At PBA, Gordon joins the staff of first-year head coach Jessica Cooley, who was hired to lead the program this summer. The Sailfish finished the 2019 season with a 27-24 overall record and a 15-15 conference mark. The team recorded wins over then-#2 Southern Arkansas and a pair of victories over top-10 ranked North Georgia during the non-conference portion of the 2019 campaign.
