UNLV assistant coach Andy Jarvis has been promoted to the title of associate head coach, the school announced on Friday.
Jarvis has spent the past two seasons on the Rebels’ coaching staff, serving under head coach Kristie Fox, who is also his wife.
Since the pair arrived in Las Vegas, the Rebels have seen enormous success, including an NISC tournament berth in 2018 and being named as one of the ‘first four out’ of last year’s NCAA tournament. The Rebels have posted a 69-34 record over the past two seasons.
Prior to joining the staff at UNLV, Jarvis served on staff under Fox at UT-Arlington. He spent five years with the Mavericks, from 2013-17, earning the title of associate head coach in his final year with the program. His coaching resume also includes five years as the volunteer assistant coach for Texas Tech baseball.
An Oregon State alum, Jarvis was a three-time all-PAC 10 honoree during his career in Corvallis and ranks in the top ten in program history in seven different statistical categories. He has sole ownership of the program’s career RBI and total bases records, and is tied for the all-time top in home runs. He spent two years as a minor league baseball player.
During the 2019 season, the Rebels’ offense finished the year with a .314 team batting average. Six players started all of the team’s games finished with an individual average over .300. The squad hit thirty-five home runs and recorded a cumulative on-base percentage of .380.
