Bailey Vick of Kentucky and Haley Cruse of Oregon have been named the JWOS Co-Players of the Week for Week 3 of the Division I regular season.
Vick batted .750 on the week for her Wildcats, collecting fifteen hits in twenty at-bats. Vick began her team’s stay in Birmingham with eleven consecutive hits to start the Samford Tournament. She batted a perfect 5-5 against Georgia Tech in an extra-inning victory over the Yellow Jackets, adding four stolen bases to her week’s statistics. Vick earned a pair of walks, scoring eight runs on the week.
Cruse led her team and all players at the Mary Nutter Classic with a .684 on-base percentage, tying for the tournament lead with a .667 batting average. She finished the weekend with a 1.000 slugging percentage, knocking two doubles, two triples, collecting six RBIs and scoring ten runs. She was the only player in Cathedral City to reach double-digits in runs scored, and one of just three to reach double-digits in hits on the weekend.
The JWOS weekly honor is the first of the season for both Vick and Cruse.
