Former Northwestern slugger Adrienne Monka will be inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame this fall, the school announced in a press release last week.
During her career, Monka was twice named a first-team all-American, as well as the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Year in 2009. She hit fifty-five home runs during her career and worked 190 walks, a mark that ranked in the top ten in the NCAA’s history at the time of her graduation.
At her career’s end, Monka held three all-time program records, including slugging percentage (.747); on-base percentage (.549); and walks (190). She also ranked second in program history in RBIs with 198.
Monka, who played for the Wildcats from 2009-12, will be one of seven individuals to be enshrined in the athletics program’s hall of fame. Joining Monka in induction as part of the class of 2018 are Christa French (fencing); Brandon Precin (wrestling); Zach Strief (football); Taylor Thornton (lacrosse); Bob Groseth (swimming and diving coach); and Howard J. Trienens.
The group will be officially inducted in a ceremony on September 14th, and will be honored at the Wildcats football game on September 15th.
