Missouri head coach Larissa Anderson earned her 200th career victory as a head coach on Saturday, in her Tigers’ win over Kent State.
Here are five things that you should know about the 3rd-year Missouri head coach following her milestone victory.
1. She is in her 7th season as a head coach.
Anderson arrived at Missouri after four years as the head coach at Hofstra. Including the abbreviated 2020 campaign, she entered 2021 averaging almost 31 wins a year.
2. She has won 65% of her games as a head coach.
In five full seasons as a head coach, plus the shortened 2020 season and the early portion of 2021, Anderson’s teams have emerged the victor in 65% of their games under her guidance.
3. Her teams have reached the NCAA tournament in three out of five possible opportunities.
Anderson led Hofstra to the NCAA tournament in 2015 and 2018, and took Missouri to the postseason in her first year as head coach in 2019.
4. Before becoming a head coach, Anderson spent thirteen years as an assistant at Hofstra.
As chief deputy to legendary Hofstra head coach Bill Edwards, Anderson ‘learned the ropes’ of the profession and was the natural fit to follow Edwards in that program’s head coaching role after his retirement.
5. She was an All-Region selection as a senior student-athlete.
Gannon University’s softball record book still reflects Anderson’s name in a number of places, as she finished her playing career in 1997 as the program’s career leader in runs scored and in the top three all-time in RBIs, hits, and stolen bases.
