Who is she? Stacie Chambers, a former catcher and home run record holder for the Arizona Wildcats.
What is she known for? Chambers is widely considered one of the greatest players in Arizona history. Twice named an all-American, Chambers finished her playing career second all-time with 87 career home runs, a mark that still stands in the top five in NCAA history. Chambers helped lead the Wildcats to three consecutive Women’s College World Series berths and was twice named a first-team all-Region selection.
Here’s something interesting… After finishing her career three home runs shy of what was then the all-time record, Chambers did set the Arizona program career record for home runs. She held the mark for six years, until it was broken by Katiyana Mauga in 2017. Two of the top four home run hitters of all-time are Wildcats.
Quotable quote: “My favorite memory from my playing career was from the 2010 WCWS, playing against UCLA in the Championship Series. Although we lost, that series was probably one of the most exciting 3-game series’ I had ever played in. Both of our teams played with a lot of heart and fought to the last inning. I remember both teams hitting a ton of home runs during the series. It was intense and I loved every second of it!!”
What’s she up to now? Chambers currently works for Ottawa University in Arizona as the Operations Manager for the school’s Phoenix campus. In addition, she owns and operates Stacie Chambers Softball Training and works for the city of Surprise, Arizona’s Parks and Recreation Department as a softball instructor.
