Revelle was placed on administrative leave on July 9th; at that time, Nebraska athletics released a statement that read, in part, “We take seriously any concerns raised regarding our student athletes. As part of our due diligence, Coach Revelle has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the completion of a review.”
A July 18th article by Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald included a quote from Moos, who noted that Nebraska received enough concerns from outgoing players to “look into it a little deeper.”
An outpouring of support from Huskers program alumni followed the announcement of Revelle’s administrative leave. A social media campaign was mounted by Revelle’s fellow coaches in a wave of support that took the softball world by storm.
On the field, the 2019 season marked Revelle’s 27th year at the helm of the Huskers, during which time she collected a 989-568 overall record. Revelle’s victory total, eleven wins shy of the 1,000 mark, is the most wins in any sport by any coach in Nebraska athletics history. She is the second-longest-tenured coach in the Huskers’ athletic department.
Upon her reinstatement, Revelle retains the 12th position among active Division I coaches in career wins; she also owns twenty career NCAA tournament appearances during her tenure at the Huskers’ helm. A four-time coach of the year, Revelle was most recently named the Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2014. She was inducted into the NFCA Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Nebraska Softball Hall of Fame in 1997.
Nebraska has failed to reach the NCAA tournament in each of the last three seasons, and finished the 2019 season with a 21-31 overall record and a 9-14 conference mark. The Huskers were eliminated in the first round of the Big Ten conference tournament.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
