Southern Utah is hiring Don Don Williams to be the program’s new head coach, sources have confirmed to JWOS.
Williams will take the helm at SUU after more than two decades as the head coach at North Idaho College, a community college in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
During her tenure at North Idaho, Williams shepherded more than fifty all-region selections and led her team to two national tournaments. In 2007, the Cardinals finished as the runners-up at the NJCAA national tournament; Williams earned the region’s Coaching Staff of the Year award that same season.
In the 2019 season, the Cardinals posted a 32-9-1 overall record and earned a victory in an exhibition game over the Czech Republic National team in early March.
At Southern Utah, Williams will take the helm of a program that posted a 6-34 overall record for the 2019 season. The Thunderbirds went 4-14 in Big Sky conference play, and posted a team batting average of .276. The squad’s pitching staff recorded a cumulative ERA of 6.84 on the year.
