Indiana junior Maddie Westmoreland has entered the NCAA’s transfer portal, sources informed JWOS on Monday.
Westmoreland’s name first appeared in the transfer portal on Monday, according to JWOS sources. The fall semester at IU officially begins on August 26th, based on the university’s online calendar.
During her first two seasons in Bloomington, Westmoreland recorded a .311 batting average, with eighteen home runs and seventy-six RBIs. She scored twenty-five runs and collected eighty-nine base hits. The Glendale, Arizona native was twice named to the All-Big Ten first-team and also earned a pair of all-region honors, including a second-team nod in 2019 after earning third-team honors the previous season.
Her freshman season in 2018 included a career-high ten home runs with fifty-two RBIs and a .306 batting average; she bettered the latter mark in 2019, to the tune of a .315 average, and also set a new career high for runs scored with fourteen. Westmoreland’s 2019 batting average led the Hoosiers’ offense.
A new destination for Westmoreland was not immediately known. After completing her sophomore season in 2019, the catcher and designated player will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
