Stanclift has already made the first addition to her coaching staff, hiring Kansas alum Chaley Brickey as an assistant coach. Brickey confirmed her hiring to JWOS.
An Akron and Wichita State alum, Stanclift spent the last six years as the head coach at NAIA Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. She led the Wildcats to the NAIA National Tournament in 2018 and ’19, and was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference’s Coach of the Year in 2019.
Brickey served on Stanclift’s staff at Baker as a graduate assistant, and previously spent two years as the volunteer assistant coach at Kansas. A KU alum, Brickey earned a quartet of all-Big 12 honors during her career, one of two Jayhawks all-time to be named all-conference in each season of their career. Brickey ended her career at KU with four program records to her name, including runs scored and RBIs, and was three times named to the all-region team.
The Wingate Bulldogs posted a 32-19 overall record on the 2019 season, with an 11-9 record in conference play. The squad reached the Division II NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014, and return South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year Aubrey Reep, who posted a .338 batting average and eight home runs at the plate, while collecting a 2.65 ERA and 176 strikeouts from the pitching circle.
