Eastern Illinois has named Tara Glasco Archibald as the program’s new head coach.
Archibald spent the last two seasons as the pitching coach at Illinois State, helping lead that program to thirty-nine wins, including a victory over then-#16 ranked Indiana during the 2019 campaign. Archibald tutored sophomore Morgan Day to team-leading numbers that included ten wins, a 3.26 ERA, and 156 strikeouts in 2019.
Prior to joining the Illinois State staff, Archibald was a member of the coaching staff at Georgia and also spent time at the high school level. She additionally was the Chief Operating Officer and an instructor at a facility in Texas in between collegiate coaching stints. She is a Southern Illinois alum and helped lead the Salukis to a pair of NCAA tournament appearances during her career, including a Super Regional berth in 2002.
Coming from the Glasco family tree, as well as coaching tree, Archibald is the daughter of Louisiana-Lafayette head coach Gerry Glasco, and sister of the late Oregon and Georgia standout Geri Ann Glasco.
She takes over an Eastern Illinois program that posted a 16-39 overall record during the 2019 season, with a 5-16 mark in Ohio Valley Conference play. The Panthers posted a team batting average of .262, while the squad’s pitching staff amassed a 4.61 cumulative ERA on the year.
