Missouri and head coach Larissa Anderson have agreed to a contract extension, according to documents reviewed by JWOS as part of a Freedom of Information Act request.
Anderson, who signed a five-year pact after being hired in the summer of 2018, will now remain the Tigers’ head coach through the 2024 season.
In her first season as head coach, Anderson led the Tigers on a remarkable, swift turnaround, guiding the team to a 35-25 overall record and a .500 record in conference play that earned them the #7-overall seed in the SEC Tournament.
Just one year removed from a dismal 2018 campaign that was mired with controversy, and following an offseason that included a number of high-profile transfers, the Tigers began their season with a pair of run-rule defeats over PAC-12 opponents, and were the only team to earn a victory over eventual National Champion UCLA during the postseason.
The Tigers saw improvement both at the plate and in the pitching circle, with a higher slugging percentage and on-base percentage despite the loss of five transferred slugging stars. The team’s pitching staff posted a 3.31 cumulative ERA, with a .252 opponent’s batting average.
Prior to taking the helm at Missouri, Anderson was head coach at Hofstra for four seasons. She also spent time as an assistant with the Pride, LIU-Post, and Gannon University, her alma mater.
