Salmon most recently spent the last six years as the head coach at Davenport University, helping lead the Panthers through the transition from the NAIA level to NCAA Division II. She collected a 235-63 overall record during her tenure at the school, good enough for a .788 winning percentage at the program’s helm.
Under Salmon’s guidance, Davenport posted a 32-21 overall record on the 2019 season, earning a second-place conference finish. The squad finished the 2017 season with a berth in the NAIA World Series, before moving full-time to Division II the following season.
Prior to taking the helm at Davenport, Salmon served as an assistant for the Panthers’ program from 2008-13. As a player, Salmon played at Aquinas and helped lead the program to three consecutive conference championships and was a three-time all-conference honoree.
At a press conference on Friday announcing her hiring, Salmon said, “I’ve got some big shoes to fill. I’m ready to jump into those shoes and bring what I’ve done and my leadership qualities to developing student athletes to Central.”
During the 2019 season, Central Michigan finished with a 22-28-1 overall record, including an 11-9-1 mark in Mid-American Conference play. The Chippewas finished the year with a team batting average of .254 and a staff ERA of 6.10.
