Former Louisiana-Lafayette second baseman Casidy Chaumont is transferring to Missouri, she announced last week.
In a message posted on her Twitter account, Chaumont said, “Excited to say I’ll be continuing my academic and softball career a little bit further north at the University of Missouri. MIZ! ZOU! GO TIGERS”.
Chaumont entered the NCAA transfer portal on June 3rd after a 2019 campaign that saw her post a .286 batting average and a .354 on-base percentage, appearing in forty-eight games with thirty-one starts.
A two-year contributor to the Ragin Cajuns, Chaumont posted a .247 batting average over her career in Lafayette, with five home runs and twenty-one doubles to her credit. She also went 12-14 in stolen bases in her pair of seasons with the Cajuns.
In joining Missouri, Chaumont will add to a Tigers club that surpassed expectations in 2019, posting a 35-25 overall record, including a 12-12 conference mark and earning the #7 seed in the SEC tournament. The Tigers later took UCLA to the winner-take-all game in the Los Angeles regional, before falling to the eventual national champions.
