Rhode Island assistant coach Mary Holt-Kelsch has been promoted on the Rams’ coaching staff.
Holt-Kelsch, now entering her fifth season at Rhode Island, will now hold the title of Associate Head Coach. Holt-Kelsch has been on Bridget Hurlman’s coaching staff since 2015, when Hurlman took the helm of the Rams.
As a staff, Hurlman and Holt-Kelsch took over a 3-win Rhode Island team and during the 2019 season record seventeen victories, the most for the Rams’ program since 2011. During the 2019 season, the Rams set single-season program records in a trio of categories, including home runs; slugging percentage; and on-base percentage, the latter a .341 mark.
Prior to joining the staff at Rhode Island, Holt-Kelsch spent two years as an assistant coach at Lafayette. A Kent State alum, Holt-Kelsch finished her career with the Golden Flashes sixth in program history in career home runs.
