Louisiana-Lafayette starting second baseman Casidy Chaumont has entered the NCAA’s transfer portal. On Wednesday, the Ragin’ Cajuns announced the addition of three transfers, including former Oregon standout Mia Camuso; ex-Missouri star Callie Martin; and former international headline-maker Melissa Mayeux.
Chaumont spent much of the last two seasons as the starting second baseman for the club, completing her sophomore season with the completion of the 2019 campaign. Chaumont hit .286 during the 2019 season, with a .354 on-base percentage and fourteen RBI to her credit.
The trio of additions to the Cajuns roster include Camuso, who was part of the mass exodus from Oregon following Melyssa Lombardi’s hiring as head coach last summer. Camuso did not decide to transfer until February, ultimately sitting out the 2019 season. A junior with two seasons of eligibility remaining, Camuso started 117 games during her two years at Oregon, hitting .341 with fourteen doubles and forty-seven RBI as a freshman and twelve doubles as a sophomore.
Also a junior with two years of remaining eligibility, Martin transfers from Missouri where she was a starting outfielder for the Tigers for each of the last two seasons. Martin posted twenty doubles during her career in Columbia, with twenty-five RBI in her freshman season.
Mayeux made international headlines as the first female baseball player to be added to Major League Baseball’s International Registration List before switching to softball in 2017. Mayeux played two years at Miami Dade College as a middle infielder. She hit .377 with eight home runs and thirty-one RBI as a freshman, with a .431 average, six home runs, and fifty-nine RBI as a sophomore in 2019.
