Charlotte has parted ways with head coach Aimee DeVos.
DeVos spent twenty-five years at the helm of the 49ers, collecting a 630-711-2 mark during her tenure. She shepherded the 49ers on the diamond through a pair of conference realignments, including joining the Atlantic 10 in 2005 and then rejoining previous league home Conference USA in 2014.
Under DeVos’ guidance, the 49ers won the Atlantic 10 conference championship in 2006, the first in program history, with a school-record 42 victories that season.
During the 2019 season, Charlotte finished the season with an overall record of 15-35, including a 6-17 mark in Conference USA matchups. The Niners missed the conference tournament, and posted a team batting average of .286 on the year. Sophomore star Katie Manring – in her first year as a 49er following a transfer – hit .345 with fourteen home runs.
