Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has announced that the contract of head coach Blake Miller will not be renewed.
Miller spent three seasons as the Islanders’ head coach, compiling a 34-116 record during his tenure. The program went 12-65 in Southland Conference play during his tenure, and failed to reach the Southland Conference tournament during his time leading the squad.
Prior to taking the helm at A&M-Corpus Christi, Miller spent three seasons as the head coach at Virginia, winning thirty-six games during his time in Charlottesville. His coaching resume also includes head coaching stints at Texas A&M-Kingsville and Darton State College, with time as an assistant at Oregon, Colorado Mesa, and East Tennessee State.
In a university statement, athletic director Jon Palumbo said, “In evaluating the state of our program, I believe it is time to move in a new direction. I want to thank Coach Miller for his service to Texas A&M-University Corpus Christi and our student-athletes. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
The Islanders went 8-43 during the 2019 season, with a 3-23 conference record. The program posted a .223 team batting average, and a staff ERA of 6.01 on the year.
