Indiana assistant coach Chanda Bell has been named the pitching coach for the Chicago Bandits.
Bell will spend the summer pro season as the Bandits’ pitching coach, while also remaining on the Hoosiers’ staff.
Following her own collegiate playing career, Bell entered the coaching ranks as an assistant coach at Marshall. She spent four seasons on the Thundering Herd staff, shepherding program legend Jordan Dixon through her own playing career and helping guide the program to a .616 winning percentage during that time.
Prior to the 2018 season, Bell followed head coach Shonda Stanton to Indiana, where she was later promoted to Associate Coach after the 2018 campaign. During that same ’18 year, Bell guided the Hoosiers’ pitching staff to second place in the Big Ten in strikeouts.
A former Kentucky standout, Bell was the Wildcats’ all-time winningest pitcher at her career’s end, and reached the 200-strikeout milestone in each season of her four-year career. She finished her Wildcat career with 910 strikeouts, and was the first pitcher in program history to record a perfect game in the circle. She pitched for the Bandits for a single season in 2012.
