Former LSU great Sahvanna Jaquish has been named an assistant coach at Dixie State, the school announced earlier this week.
“Thrilled to have you join our staff!” read the school’s social media posts announcing Jaquish’s hiring. In her own statement on social media, Jaquish wrote, “I am excited to teach these young athletes that are transitioning into the highest level of collegiate sports #D1 and honored to be a part of a culture that already knows how to win on and off the field!”
Jaquish previously served as an assistant coach at the University of La Verne and as a volunteer assistant on staff at LSU. She spent several years playing international softball, first for the Puerto Rican national team and later with Team USA.
During her playing career at LSU, Jaquish was the first Tiger to be named a 4-time All-American and was three times selected to the All-SEC roster. She helped lead the Tigers program to three Women’s College World Series appearances.
Dixie State will officially begin the transition from Division II to Division I on July 1, 2020, when they will become members of the Western Athletic Conference. The Trailblazers finished the 2020 season with a 19-7 overall record, including a 7-5 conference showing in their last year of competition in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
