Bradenton Slice slugger Riley Ludlam has been named the JWOS Player of the Week for week four of the Florida Gulf Coast League summer season.
A Fort Myers, Florida native, Ludlam competes for the Furman Paladins during the NCAA season.
Ludlam put on quite a power show during the week’s games, collecting a total of five home runs in six games. With an 8-17 showing at the plate, she recorded a .471 batting average and nine RBIs, to go along with six runs scored, a double, and three walks.
The hard-hitting utility player reached base safely in each of her team’s six games on the week. She recorded at least one hit in five games, including a 3-4 showing against the Impact on Tuesday; she notched a pair of home runs against the club, scoring three times and driving in three runs.
In the week’s opener against the Bradenton Lynx, Ludlam went 1-3 at the plate, recording a double and an RBI while earning a walk. The game against the Lynx was one of just two games on the week where Ludlam did not hit a home run. On Saturday, following an 0-2 performance against the Pioneers, Ludlam hit a 2-run home run against the Manatee Squeeze that contributed to her team’s 12-run offensive onslaught.
As a freshman during the 2020 collegiate season, Ludlam started each of her team’s twenty-six games, playing seven different positions. She batted .263 on the abbreviated year, recording three home runs and twelve RBIs.
