Erin Arevalo has joined the Oklahoma coaching staff as the volunteer assistant coach, the school announced on Tuesday.
Arevalo spent the past three seasons as the pitching coach at Indiana State. During her tenure with the Sycamores, Arevalo helped lead the program to a 56-75 overall record, as well as a 17-35 mark in Missouri Valley conference play. Arevalo also shepherded the squad to a program record for team saves under her guidance.
Prior to joining the staff at Indiana State, Arevalo spent two seasons on staff at Samford in 2016 and ’17. She was part of the coaching staff that guided the Bulldogs to the SoCon regular-season and conference tournament titles in 2016.
During her playing career at Georgia, Arevalo was part of a pair of Women’s College World Series teams, in 2009 and 2010. During the team’s WCWS run in 2010, her sophomore season, Arevalo registered twenty victories and 171 strikeouts. In her senior season of 2013, Arevalo recorded a 27-9 overall record, 270 strikeouts, and a 1.43 ERA and was named a third-team All-American for her efforts.
At Oklahoma, Arevalo takes the volunteer assistant’s role vacated by Paige Parker, who was named pitching coach at Tulsa earlier in the summer. The Sooners finished the abbreviated 2020 season with a 20-4 overall record.
