Former Auburn great and Women’s College World Series hero Emily Carosone has rejoined the Tigers’ program, now as the volunteer assistant coach on first-year head coach Mickey Dean’s staff.
Carosone had previously joined Dean’s staff as a graduate assistant coach earlier this fall. The fiery second baseman was a key piece of the 2015 and 2016 Tiger squads that reached the Women’s College World Series.
During her career as a Tiger, Carosone earned four all-conference awards and three all-American honors, including a nod to the First team in 2015. She is perhaps best known nationally for her game-winning grand slam in game two of the 2016 WCWS Championship Series that led to a winner-take-all game three.
Since her playing career at Auburn ended, Carosone has spent the past two summers as a member of the NPF’s Chicago Bandits. She tried out for Team USA earlier this month, but was not named to the national team’s roster.
In joining the coaching staff at her alma mater, Carosone roundout Dean’s coaching staff, a group that also includes newly-hired hitting coach Eddy Ketelhut; former Georgia Southern head coach Annie Smith; and director of operations Megan Reynolds, the lone holdover from the Clint Myers era.
