UCLA freshman standout Aaliyah Jordan earned a pair of honors in the conference round of the Justin’s World of Softball awards, as she was named both the PAC-12’s Player and Freshman of the Year. Oregon junior Megan Kleist was named Pitcher of the Year, while Trisha Ford of Arizona State earned Coach of the Year honors.
Jordan led her team and the conference with a .444 batting average, while her eleven home runs also paced her team. She posted a .759 slugging percentage, second only to Arizona’s Alyssa Palomino. The standout first-year Bruin collected sixty-three RBI; twenty-seven extra base hits; and 123 total bases. She also worked a team-leading 21 walks.
Kleist continued her already-impressive career and simultaneously helped her Ducks to a conference title. She posted a 20-5 record on the season, including victories over Georgia and Oklahoma in addition to her 12-2 conference performance. She recorded 200 strikeouts and a minuscule 0.96 ERA; the latter mark ranked seventh in the nation.
Ford led her program in a sharp ascent in just her second year on the job in Tempe. The Sun Devils finished third in the conference standings with a 16-8 record in PAC-12 play. The Sun Devils surprised many with their performance, en route to a 43-11 overall record and the #8 overall seed in the NCAA tournament.
