Florida State seniors Jessie Warren and Kylee Hanson paced the Atlantic Coast Conference this season, and for their efforts, the duo was crowned the ACC’s Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, in the 2018 JWOS Awards.
Finishing off a mighty career that saw her break records and leave her name all throughout the program’s record book, Warren hit .403 overall with sixteen home runs and fifty-four RBI. She cemented her place as the Noles’ all-time home run leader and finished tied for 21st in the nation in home runs.
Hanson, in her first year as a Seminole after transferring as a redshirt senior prior to the season, dominated opponents en route to a 0.94 ERA and 25 wins on the year. She collected 194 strikeouts in 163 innings and held opponents to a microscopic .134 batting average.
Pittsburgh head coach Holly Aprile earned Coach of the Year honors after her team defied expectations and won the conference’s Coastal division title after being picked to finish ninth in the conference in the preseason coaches poll. The Panthers posted a 31-17-1 record on the year, with a 16-6 conference mark.
Florida State’s Sydney Sherrill earned Freshman of the Year honors. Sherrill finished second on her squad, behind only Warren, with a .373 batting average, and posted a .675 slugging percentage with eight home runs.
