Per the school’s announcement, Jenkins tore her ACL in practice and underwent successful surgery in Birmingham on Thursday morning.
As a junior during the 2019 season, Jenkins started sixty-nine games at the shortstop position for the Crimson Tide. She batted .221 during the year, with thirteen home runs – a mark that tied for second on the team. In her team’s opening game against Oklahoma at the 2019 Women’s College World Series, Jenkins recorded a pair of hits, including a solo home run.
During her first two seasons with the Crimson Tide, Jenkins recorded seventy-one starts, spending her career across the infield.
The Crimson Tide are coming off of a 2019 season that saw them record a 60-10 overall record, including an 18-6 mark in conference play. The squad finished as runners-up in the conference tournament and saw their season end in the WCWS semifinals.
