Davenport University has hired Amber Bowman as the program’s new head coach, the school announced on Wednesday.
Bowman spent the last four seasons at Purdue Fort Wayne as an assistant coach, coaching the Mastodons in the Division I Summit League since 2016.
Prior to joining the staff at Purdue Fort Wayne, Bowman spent a single season as head coach of NAIA Rio Grande, leading that program to their best win-loss record in more than a decade and an appearance in the NAIA national tournament.
Her coaching resume also includes a stint on staff at Northwestern Ohio and an initial stint on staff at Rio Grande, her alma mater. She was an all-conference honoree in each of her final two seasons as a player for the Red Storm.
At Davenport, Bowman takes over in the stead of McCall Salmon, who accepted the head coaching position at Central Michigan earlier in the summer. The Panthers went 32-21 overall, with a 22-10 mark in GLIAC play. The squad reached the conference tournament, posting a 2-2 record before ultimately falling in extra innings in an elimination game.
