Former St. John’s head coach Amy Kvilhaug has been selected for induction into the the Providence College Athletics Hall of Fame.
Kvilhaug pitched for the Friars from 1993-1996, setting a number of program records and earning conference and national honors through the course of her career.
Seven Providence program records still have Kvilhaug’s name atop them, most notably the career mark for earned run average (1.20) and wins (72). She also holds the Friars records for starts (92); complete games (84); and shutouts (27), among other categories. She additionally owns five single-season records.
Kvilhaug was named the Big East Rookie of the Year in 1993 and earned all-conference and all-region honors in her sophomore season of 1994.
After her playing career ended, Kvilhaug embarked on a coaching career that included stints as an assistant coach at Seton Hall; Rutgers; and Florida Southern, as well as sixteen years as the head coach at Radford and St. John’s, during which time she amassed more than 400 career victories.
In being inducted to the Hall of Fame, Kvilhaug is one of twelve members of the Class of 2018. The group will be officially inducted in February and will be additionally honored at halftime of the Providence vs. Marquette men’s basketball game.
