TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER
Georgia State has named Angie Nicholson as the program’s new head coach.
The school announced Nicholson’s hiring on Tuesday; the Panthers’ head coaching position had been open since May 18th.
Nicholson spent the previous five seasons as the head coach at Hampton. In 2020, the Pirates began the season 15-4 before the campaign’s abrupt cancellation. Hampton did not play during the 2021 season, electing to forgo the season due to the ongoing health situation. Nicholson guided the Pirates through the program’s realignment from the MEAC to the Big South in 2019.
In fifteen years as a Division I head coach, Nicholson owns a career record of 397-332-1. That win-loss record stretches across stints as head coach at Butler, Cleveland State, and Eastern Illinois as well as Hampton.
A two-time Horizon League Coach of the Year while at Cleveland State, Nicholson has led her team to their respective conference tournament eleven times.
