Who is she? Jamia Reid, a former outfielder for the California Golden Bears. What is she known for? Reid played for Cal from 2009-12 and was one of the top short game players of her day. After winning the Big Ten tournament championship in 2013, the Wisconsin Badgers struggled for a few years to gain an identity as a contender on the national stage. Though they have yet to reach a firm plateau on national prominence, the program has seen particularly stable footing in the last couple of seasons, with back-to-back appearances in the NCAA tournament in 2017 and ’18. Cal State Fullerton and coach Kelly Ford have agreed to a contract extension. The new pact will keep Ford at the helm of the Titans through the 2024 season. She was named the program’s head coach in October of 2012, and will enter her seventh season leading the squad in 2019. During her tenure at Fullerton, Ford has earned more than 200 victories, collecting a .608 winning percentage. For her success leading the Titans, Ford has earned three consecutive Big West Coach of the Year trophies. Under Ford’s leadership, the Titans have reached the 30-win plateau in five consecutive seasons.…

The entire 2020 Olympic softball field will be set by the first of October of this year after the World Baseball Softball Confederation earlier this week announced the dates for the remaining qualifying tournaments. Three qualifying tournaments will be held, set to take place in Canada, China, and the Netherlands. Participation in each event will be geographically-based, designed to allow a world representation on the Olympic stage. Junior pitcher Maggie Balint is expected to leave Oregon as early as Monday afternoon, sources with knowledge of the situation have informed JWOS. Up to this point, Balint has been the lone holdover in the pitching circle from the tenure of former head coach Mike White and had previously seemingly elected to play under first-year head coach Melyssa Lombardi, following the transfer of her all-American counterparts Megan Kleist and Miranda Elish. Who is she? AnnaMarie Gatti, a former pitcher for the Syracuse Orange. What is she known for? Gatti spent four seasons as a starting pitcher at Syracuse, earning a nomination to the Mid Atlantic all-region third team in her sophomore season of 2016. In her senior season of 2018, Gatti posted a 12-7 win-loss record with a 3.16 ERA and ninety-five strikeouts.
