A first-team all-American at Louisiana-Lafayette in 2017, slugging shortstop DJ Sanders has announced her intentions to transfer to Oregon for her senior season. In a post on Facebook, Sanders announced her intention to transfer and thanked several individuals in Lafayette, including, of note, new head coach Gerry Glasco. It was confirmed to JWOS that Glasco reversed the school administration’s previous edict and will be granting a full release to Sanders to be able to play right away at her new school. Gerry Glasco has made his selections to fill out his inaugural coaching staff at Louisiana-Lafayette, JWOS has learned. According to sources, Glasco will be joined by Ellen Renfroe-Reed and Joe Guthrie as assistant coaches. Renfroe-Reed, a former all-American and one of the best pitchers in Tennessee Lady Vol history, will join the Ragin Cajuns from Bethel University in Tennessee. Renfroe-Reed was named head coach at Bethel in May and was going into her inaugural season at the helm of the Wildcats in 2018. Jones played the super utility role from the very beginning of her college career, putting both her pitching arm and speed in the outfield to work. As the defending national champions, the Oklahoma Sooners softball team paid a visit to Washington DC on Friday. The team toured the city and visited the White House, where they were greeted by President Donald Trump. The Sooner softballers were one of eighteen NCAA national championship-winning teams that accepted the invitation to visit the nation’s capital. Among others, the twice-defending Women’s College World Series champions were joined by the men’s golf and men’s and women’s gymnastics teams from OU, as well. Gerry Glasco will be named the new head coach at Louisiana-Lafayette, JWOS has learned exclusively. Glasco currently holds the position of Associate Head Coach at Auburn, a position that he accepted only earlier this fall. Prior to that, he had been in a similar position at Texas A&M for three seasons and was largely credited for the Aggies’ breakout offense that went to the Women’s College World Series in 2017. A longtime SEC coaching veteran, Glasco also spent six seasons at Georgia in the mid-2000s and early 2010s. He has also coached at the travel ball and high school levels…

Who is she? Abigail Harter Farler, a former pitcher and team captain for the Marshall Thundering Herd. What is she known for? Farler spent four seasons in the circle for the Herd, collecting fifty-two wins during her tenure. As the scandal surrounding Michael Lotief’s firing at Louisiana-Lafayette continues to roll on, there is a bright spot connected to the program, in program alum Lacey Bertucci Sharp’s election to the Ragin Cajun Hall of Fame. Sharp played for the Ragin Cajuns from 2004-08 and earned all-conference honors in each of her four seasons on the squad. She played in a school-record 255 games during her career and hit fifty-eight home runs.
