TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER Georgia head coach Lu Harris-Champer has announced her retirement. The announcement was made on Sunday, one day after the Bulldogs were eliminated from the Women’s College World Series. “A decision like this is always difficult, particularly when you work at a wonderful institution like the University of Georgia,” Harris-Champer said in a school statement. “I am beyond grateful for my time here in Athens. I was truly blessed to work with tremendous colleagues and coach amazing student-athletes that mean so much to me. This decision came down to family. It was the right time…

While at Truman State, Brown earned 348 victories and made five NCAA tournament appearances. During Brown’s thirteen seasons leading the Truman State program, the Bulldogs appeared in the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament every season. In her new role, Brown will compete against her former club, as both schools are members of the GLVC. Lindenwood finished 6th in the conference standings in 2021; Truman State…
TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER The Southeastern Conference announced on Thursday that the league will allow student-athletes in all sports to transfer within the conference and be eligible to play immediately with their new team. Ratified following a vote of the league’s school presidents and chancellors, the move officially aligns the conference with the NCAA’s April legislation that established a one-time transfer exception for student-athletes in every sport. In the past, players that transferred from one SEC program to another were required to sit out one season at their new school. That will no longer be the case with…
Kate Gordon was due. The James Madison super senior outfielder and leadoff hitter was a crucial part of the Dukes’ offense during the regular season, but had not been her normal self during the NCAA tournament. Even as JMU made impressive runs through the Regional and Super Regional rounds, Gordon’s veteranship came in handy, but her bat lay cold. Leading up to the Women’s College World Series opener on Thursday, Gordon’s intangible skills – including that same veteranship – undoubtedly came in handy for her team. But for a hitter just one home run away from breaking the Colonial Athletic…
Kristi Stefanoni will not return as the head coach at Massachusetts (UMass), the school announced on Thursday. Stefanoni spent eight years as the head coach of the Minutewomen, collecting a 167-158-1 overall record and a 90-49-1 mark in Atlantic 10 conference play. The 2021 season was Stefanoni’s 15th year on staff in Amherst, including seven years as an assistant coach under the legendary Elaine Sortino and the 2014 season when she served as interim head coach following Sortino’s passing. Stefanoni earned Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year honors in 2018, as she led the Minutewomen to the conference’s regular-season title.…
UCLA pitcher Megan Faraimo is not currently with her team in Oklahoma City, the team confirmed in a statement to JWOS on Thursday. “Sophomore Megan Faraimo did not travel with the team on Monday to Oklahoma City due to an injured right hand,” the team said in a statement. “She has an appointment with a specialist in Southern California this week, and her status for the Women’s College World Series is day-to-day.” Sources told JWOS that Faraimo’s injury could be as serious as a broken hand, which would put Faraimo out of commission for the entirety of the Bruins’ stay…
Eight teams are just hours away from taking the field on the first day of the 2021 Women’s College World Series. It has been two years since softball played on the sport’s premier stage, and this year’s tournament features some history-making teams and some Cinderella stories. Let’s take a look at the paths that these eight teams took to Oklahoma City. #1 Oklahoma The Sooners finished the regular season with a 42-2 overall record, losing just twice during the year, to Georgia and Oklahoma State. The Sooners went 3-0 in the Big 12 Conference tournament before running the table in…
