In 2020, under a new coach and with a rejuvenated squad on the field, the San Diego Toreros will look to move up in the West Coast Conference standings after a 5th-place finish a season ago. The Toreros hired NAIA National Championship-winning coach Jessica Pistole this summer. One player that Pistole will likely lean on heavily this season is pitcher Delaney Heller. UAB assistant coach Joe Guthrie has been promoted to the title of associate head coach, the program announced on Friday. Guthrie is entering his second season on staff with the Blazers, having joined head coach Jimmy Kolaitis’ staff shortly after Kolaitis’ own hiring in Birmingham. In his first season with the program,  Guthrie helped lead the Blazers’ offense to a .290 batting average and a .354 on-base percentage. “I am very fortunate to have the staff that I work with every day,” Kolaitis said in a school press release. “Coach Guthrie has been a big piece to what we do…

A look back at 2019 The LSU Tigers finished the 2019 season with a 43-19 overall record, including a 14-10 showing in SEC play. The Tigers performed stellarly at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge, going 29-9 at home, though they finished just 11-7 in road games and 3-3 in netural-site contests. During the non-conference portion of the season, the Tigers won seven straight games to begin the year, including a victory over Oklahoma State. Team Canada standout Erika Polidori will be inducted into the Oakland University Athletics Hall of Honor on January 24th. Polidori played her collegiate career at Oakland, suiting up for the Golden Grizzlies from 2011-14.
