Ball State has signed head coach Megan Bartlett to a contract extension that will stretch through the 2021 season.
The 2018 season was the Cardinals’ best during Bartlett’s three-year tenure as head coach, as the program posted a 37-19 overall record and earned a share of the MAC West Division title with a 16-7 conference mark.
Bartlett owns a career 89-79 record at Ball State, the first head coaching position of her storied career. She has coached a trio of all-region players during her tenure and has tutored nineteen academic all-conference honorees.
In a press release announcing the extension, Ball State athletic director Beth Goetz noted Bartlett’s “vision for the program” and expressed that the coaching staff has “the program poised for success on a national level”.
In addition to her time at Ball State, Bartlett has coached at Purdue; DePaul; Northern Illinois; and Loyola Chicago.
The 2004 Big East Player of the Year, Bartlett was twice named an all-American during her playing career at Notre Dame and ended her collegiate playing career as the Fighting Irish’s all-time leader in hits and stolen bases. She also spent a pair of seasons in the National Pro Fastpitch league with the Chicago Bandits.
