Western Illinois head coach Beth Golitko is leaving the Leathernecks to accept an assistant coaching position at Loyola Chicago.
The news was released by Golitko on her personal social media pages. Neither school has confirmed the transactions.
Golitko spent two seasons as the head coach at Western Illinois, serving as the interim head coach in 2018 before being named to the full-time position prior to the 2019 campaign.
Under Golitko’s guidance, the Leathernecks posted a 37-51 record over the past two seasons, including a 21-12 conference record. The squad reached the .500 mark in 2019, finishing the year 20-20 overall and 12-6 in Summit League play.
A WIU alum, Golitko spent the majority of her career to-date in Macomb, serving as both a graduate assistant and full-time assistant coach prior to assuming the helm of the program. Her coaching resume also includes a stint as assistant coach at Cleveland State.
In heading to Loyola Chicago, Golitko joins the inaugural coaching staff of new head coach Alicia Abbott. The Ramblers finished the 2019 season with a 25-25 overall record, with a 9-16 record in Missouri Valley Conference play. The program finished the year with a team batting average of .303, while the squad’s pitching staff posted a 3.62 cumulative ERA.
