Bob Guerriero has been named the full-time head coach at St. John’s, according to a university press release issued on Wednesday.
Guerriero has served since September of 2018 as the program’s leader on an interim basis, replacing Amy Kvilhaug as head coach upon her retirement.
Before being named to the interim position, Guerriero spent six seasons on the Johnnies’ coaching staff as an assistant. He previously spent a dozen years on the coaching staff at Seton Hall, helping lead the Pirates to five Big East conference championships.
In 2017, Guerriero was part of the Johnnies’ coaching staff that was named the Big East Coaching Staff of the Year.
St. John’s finished the 2018 season with a 28-27 overall record, including a 12-6 markr in Big East conference play. The Johnnies fell to Creighton by a score of 8-1 in the semifinals of the conference tournament to close the season.
