Former all-SEC honoree Braxton Burnside will transfer from Missouri to Arkansas, the now-former Tiger announced via social media on Friday.
Burnside earned freshman all-conference honors in 2017 and was a top 25 finalist for the NFCA’s National Freshman of the Year award. As a freshman, Burnside hit twelve home runs and recorded fifty-two RBI.
In 2018, Burnside again posted team-leading numbers, with a .275 batting average, three home runs, and twenty-eight RBI. She recorded twenty doubles during her pair of seasons in Columbia.
Burnside helped pace the Tigers in the NCAA tournament, posting a .417 batting average and .833 slugging percentage in the Norman regional.
In a statement that was posted to her Twitter page, Burnside said, “Missouri, thank you for all you have done for me. You gave me all I ever wanted and that was to play college softball in the SEC. You gave me some of the best teammates I’ve ever had and I’ll forever be thankful for that. You gave me a lot of memories I’ll hold on to for the rest of my life. My 2 years at Missouri taught me so much about myself and who I am as a softball player. And I can’t forget to mention how big of an impact Coach E had on me from the moment I stepped on campus. To all the coaches, staff, and fans I want to say thank you for allowing me to be a part of the Missouri Tiger family. Unfortunately, it’s time for me to move on.
“This was a personal decision that I have thought through with my family and feel is best for me. I will be transferring to the University of Arkansas to continue my education and softball career. I can’t wait to start this new journey with the support of my friends and family. Here are to new beginnings… WPS.”
