Siena has promoted assistant coach Casey Bump to the role of head coach, the school announced on Monday.
Bump spent the last seven seasons as an assistant coach with the Saints. During her time on the coaching staff, Bump worked with the program’s pitching staff and helped guide a pair of program greats, including 2018 graduate Lauren Butts, who ranks in the top three in program history in both wins and strikeouts.
Prior to joining the Siena program, Bump spent several years on the coaching staff at Rensselaer Polytechnic (RPI), as well as time in the high school and private coaching levels.
As a player, Bump enjoyed a stellar collegiate career at Albany, including twice being named the Most Outstanding Player of the America East conference tournament. She was named the 2006 AEast Pitcher of the Year, and led the Great Danes to the NCAA regional final in 2007. Upon her graduation from the school, Bump held program records in seven statistical categories, including wins; strikeouts; and innings pitched. She was inducted into the UAlbany Hall of Fame in 2016.
The Saints finished the abbreviated 2020 season with a 3-10 record and had not yet begun conference play when the COVID-19 pandemic prematurely ended the campaign.
