Two Olympic hopefuls and a former North Carolina standout will round out the inaugural coaching staff of the Cindy Ball era at UCF.
Kendra Lynch was named an assistant coach for the Knights after spending the 2018 season as the volunteer assistant coach at Florida State, helping lead the Seminoles to the Women’s College World Series championship and national title. During her playing career at North Carolina, Lynch was named an all-American in 2017 and ended her career with 188 hits, 52 home runs, and 168 RBIs, as well as a career 4.42 ERA and a 45-29 win-loss record in the pitching circle.
Tiffany Jordan was previously retained as the lone holdover from Renee Luers-Gillespie’s previous coaching staff, and will serve as Ball’s top assistant.
Two members of the Canadian national team will fill out the Knights’ coaching and support staff, as Jenn Salling will be the program’s volunteer assistant coach, while Victoria Hayward will serve as the Director of Operations.
Salling played for Team Canada in the 2008 Summer Olympics and is one of the senior-most members of the Canadian roster. A Washington alum, she was the starting shortstop on the 2009 National Championship-winning squad. She served on the coaching staff at her alma mater for the past three seasons, first as a graduate assistant, then later as a volunteer assistant coach.
Hayward is the only new addition to the Knights’ staff with full-time coaching experience, having spent the 2018 season as an assistant coach at Maryland and the previous two years on staff at Massachusetts. Also a Washington alum, Hayward earned all-American honors in 2014 and was named to the all-PAC 12 roster in each of her four seasons as a Husky. She has been a member of Team Canada since 2009.
Both Salling and Hayward played for Ball at Washington in 2011, when their now-boss served as an assistant coach for the Huskies.
