The University of Dallas has named Christian Novak as the program’s new head coach.
Novak spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Cottey College, working as the team’s pitching coach and also working with the team’s outfielders and slappers. In her first season on the Comets’ coaching staff, Novak helped guide the squad to a 22-2 overall record in their first season in the NAIA.
During her playing career at Memphis, Novak recorded 230 strikeouts in more than 313 innings of work for the Tigers. She battled injuries on multiple occasions during her career, though her finest season came as a redshirt junior in 2017; that year, she posted a 2.71 ERA and a career-high 108 strikeouts in 142 innings in the circle.
The Dallas softball team finished the abbreviated 2020 season with a 5-11 overall record, ending the campaign with a win over Centenary College in their only conference victory of the year. She replaces Caitlynn Dykes as head coach; Dykes resigned from the role in late July.
