Longwood alum Emily Murphy joins Lancer coaching staff
Former Longwood star Emily Murphy is returning to her alma mater’s home dugout, this time as a full-time assistant coach for the Lancers. Murphy graduated from Longwood in 2016 as a four-time all-conference honoree, earning first-team all-Big South honors in each of her final three seasons on the diamond. She was a part of three conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances, including a berth in the regional championship game in 2016. Murphy spent the 2017 season on the Longwood support staff and was an assistant coach at Norfolk State in 2018.

Jillian Van Wagnen follows Horton to Pittsburgh
After serving as an assistant coach at Ohio under Jodi Hermanek Horton, Jillian Van Wagnen has been announced as the first member of Horton’s inaugural coaching staff at Pittsburgh. Van Wagnen joined the Ohio coaching staff after a four-year playing career with the Bobcats under Horton. Van Wagnen spent four years as an assistant with the Bobcats, primarily working with the team’s outfielders; slappers; and base runners, while also serving as the program’s recruiting coordinator. Prior to her time as an assistant at Ohio, Van Wagnen spent two years as an assistant coach at Newman University. As a player, Van Wagnen’s sixty-nine career stolen bases is third-best all-time in the Ohio record books.
Weber State adds pair of assistants
Mary Kay Amicone has filled out her coaching staff at Weber State with the addition of two assistants; Kevin Jensen will round out the program’s full-time coaching staff, while program alum Kirtlyn Bohling will serve as the Wildcats’ volunteer assistant. Jensen spent the last three seasons on staff at Brigham Young University (BYU) and was a part of a Cougar squad that reached the NCAA tournament in each of those seasons. Prior to his tenure at BYU, Jensen spent a lengthy period of time as a coach at the high school and travel ball levels in both softball and baseball. He is a Weber State alum and played professional baseball in the Cincinnati Reds’ organization… Bohling wrapped up her own playing career after the 2018 season with the Wildcats, as she ended her career with the fourth all-Big Sky conference honor of her career and third consecutive nod to the all-conference first-team. Bohling posted a career overall record of 63-40 in 610 innings of work and posted 435 career strikeouts. She stands as the program’s all-time leader in six statistical categories, including wins; innings pitched; and strikeouts.
Maddie Holub joins Marshall coaching staff
Three years removed from being named the Division II Assistant Coach of the Year, Maddie Holub has been hired to serve as the Marshall pitching coach under first-year head coach Megan Smith. Holub spent the last four seasons as the pitching coach at Saint Leo University in a tenure that saw the program reach the Division II postseason in back-to-back seasons, including the World Series during the 2018 season. Holub shepherded the Sunshine State Conference’s Pitcher of the Year in 2016 and 2017 and saw her staff pace all of Division II with a 0.93 team ERA in 2016. Her coaching resume includes a stint on staff at Fort Hays State, her alma mater, and time in Italy teaching the game on an international level. From her playing days at Fort Hays State, Holub holds six program records in both the pitching and offensive departments, including in hits; runs scored; RBIs; home runs; wins; and pitching strikeouts.
Danielle Glosson hired as Campbell pitching coach
Campbell first-year head coach Sharonda McDonald has filled out her coaching staff with the addition of Glosson. Glosson spent the 2018 season away from coaching, as she served in an administrative role in the athletic department of High Point University as the Director of Development for Events. Prior to her one year stint in administration, Glosson spent six seasons on staff at Western Carolina, serving as the program’s pitching coach and earning the title of Associate Head Coach in her final season with the Catamounts. A former Southern Illinois star as a player, Glosson was named the Missouri Valley Conference’s Pitcher of the Year in 2010 and was twice an all-conference honoree.
Corrie Hill added to Michigan State staff
Former longtime Texas assistant coach Corrie Hill has been named the new assistant coach at Michigan State. Hill spent eleven years on staff at Texas before leaving the Longhorns in 2016. During her time in Austin, she served as the program’s hitting coach and helped lead the squad to appearances in the Women’s College World Series in 2006 and 2013. In 2017, Hill joined the staff at Central Florida and in 2018, served as the interim head coach at UT-Dallas. Prior to her time at Texas, Hill spent seven seasons as the head coach at UTSA and three years at the helm of Southeastern Louisiana. Her coaching resume also includes a stint as an assistant coach at Baylor, as well as time as the head coach and assistant general manager with the Durham Dragons, then a franchise in the Women’s Professional Fastpitch league.
Inouye completes coaching staff at Fordham
Katie McEachern and Matt Klampert will serve as assistant coaches on the inaugural coaching staff of Melissa Inouye at Fordham. McEachern spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant at Saint Francis, part of a coaching staff that led the Red Flash to back-to-back Northeast Conference titles and NCAA regional appearances. During her playing career, she was twice named the Ivy League Player of the Year, earned a pair of all-region selections, and was named a first-team, all-conference selection during each season of her career… Klampert follows Inouye from Iona, where he spent the past three seasons on the Gaels’ staff under her leadership. Under Inouye, Klampert helped lead the Gaels to the 2017 MAAC regular-season title and a berth in the inaugural NISC postseason tournament. His resume includes a stint on the staff at his alma mater, St. John’s, as both a student manager and volunteer assistant coach.
Lacour returns to Southeastern Louisiana as assistant coach
A familiar face is returning to Hammond to fill out the coaching staff at Southeastern Louisiana, as alum Katie Lacour will join the Lions’ staff as the outfield and hitting coach. Lacour graduated from Southeastern Louisiana in 2016, ending her career as one of the program’s most decorated alumni. A three-time first-team all-Southland conference honoree, Lacour is the only Lion alum to have earned the distinction three times. She was named an all-region honoree during her junior campaign and won the NFCA Golden Shoes Award as the nation’s top base stealer in 2016. Her .425 career batting average is the best all-time in Southland Conference history.
South Carolina adds Wike as volunteer assistant
Former North Carolina star Taylor Wike will spend the 2019 season as the volunteer assistant coach at South Carolina, joining the Gamecocks’ staff. Wike graduated from UNC following the 2018 season, following a four-year career that saw her earn a trio of all-conference honors. Wike was twice named to the all-Southeast Region squad and earned a pair of nods to the all-ACC tournament team. She finished her collegiate playing career with three program career records and ranks in the all-time top ten in seventeen statistical categories in the Tar Heel record books. Her 122 career walks rank #23 all-time in NCAA history.
