Concordia Irvine has named Crystal Rosenthal as the department’s full-time athletic director.
Rosenthal served in the role on an interim basis since March. She is also the Eagles’ head softball coach, and will continue in that role along with her duties as AD.
In a statement released by the school on Tuesday, Rosenthal said, “”I am very grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve in this role and I’m appreciative to President Thomas, Tim Odle and the administration for their confidence in me. I’m very thankful for all those who have mentored me over the course of my time here at Concordia and all those people who have played such a large role in my development. I look forward for the opportunity to continue working alongside all our coaches, our administration and all our student-athletes as we look forward to our new normal this year and beyond.”
A former Eagles student-athlete, Rosenthal has spent more than two decades in Irvine in a variety of roles. She played softball for the program, served as an assistant coach, and was promoted to head coach in 2009. Prior to assuming the role of interim athletic director, Rosenthal was the school’s Senior Woman Administrator and Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
The victory of more than 500 career games as head coach, Rosenthal is the winningest head coach in program history. She led the squad to the NAIA National Championship in 2013, and was inducted into the program’s Hall of Fame in 2008.
