Jeff Franquet has been hired as the new head coach at Delaware State.
Franquet spent four years as the head coach at Central Connecticut State from 2009-13, winning 115 games during his tenure to set the program’s all-time wins record. Franquet led the Blue Devils to the NCAA tournament in 2013 and recorded the squad’s first-ever postseason win in a victory over Northwestern State that same year.
Prior to his tenure at CCSU, Franquet’s coaching resume also includes three years as the head coach at Division II Georgian Court; a three-year stint as the inaugural head coach at Jacksonville; and a stint as head coach at Central Florida Community College. He also coached at the high school level and spent two seasons as the head coach of the Philadelphia Force in the National Pro Fastpitch league.
A former men’s fastpitch player, Franquet spent time playing in the United States and internationally in New Zealand.
Delaware State finished the 2019 season with a 10-32 overall record, including a 7-8 record in the MEAC. The Hornets posted a team batting average of .254 with a cumulative team ERA of 7.05.
