Former Missouri head coach Ehren Earleywine has been named the new athletics director for Jefferson City Public Schools.
Earleywine was surprisingly fired as the Tigers’ head coach less than two weeks before the 2018 season began, and with little explanation as to the motives for the move or the timing thereof.
In his new role, Earleywine’s official title will be Director of Athletics and he will serve the Jefferson City Public Schools. Jefferson City is the capital of Missouri and is roughly forty miles from Columbia.
“I am excited for the opportunity to help elevate JCPS toward becoming the premier district in Missouri once again,” Earleywine said in a statement released by the school district. “I look forward to working with the entire JCPS team of administrators, directors and coaches to make it happen. For me personally, it’s a beautiful thing that my career and my passion come together in the city and at the school I love most.”
During eleven seasons leading the Tigers, Earleywine posted a career record of 482-182 and under his leadership, the Tigers appeared in three Women’s College World Series’ and reached the NCAA tournament in every season.
