Division III Southwestern University has named Emerald Doria as the program’s new head coach.
Doria spent the last five seasons on the coaching staff at Louisiana Tech, including two years as the Lady Techsters’ associate head coach. She helped lead the squad to 30+ wins in five consecutive seasons, as well as a pair of NCAA tournament appearances.
The primary hitting coach during her tenure at Louisiana Tech, Doria shepherded a record-breaking offense during her time in Ruston and saw two Lady Techsters hitters earn back-to-back Conference USA Player of the Year awards, in Morgan Turkoly (2018) and Jazlyn Crowder (2019).
Prior to joining the staff at Louisiana Tech, Doria spent four seasons, including three as the head coach, at C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. As a player, Doria starred at Centenary College and still ranks in the top five in that program’s history in seven statistical categories.
Southwestern University finished the 2019 season with a 35-6 overall record, and ended the season with a loss in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament championship game.
